In the kitchen preparing Christmas dinner
My mother and my brother making sugar brown potatoes.
They were eaten with couple of Icelandic wild geese after some of us in the family went to church.
For you who might not know, we in Iceland have different Christmas costume than some other countries since Christmas eve is at 24th of December and we get the presents that evening.

Easter some years ago
We began the tour in a cold weather at temperature 10-15 degrees below zero. That picture is from day four in the tour when it was much warmer temperature, even above zero.
The day after it had began raining and the tour changed immediately to water skiing project!
I might write more about that tour but now I have to go out and buy some coffee - my mind is n danger

One of my pictures: The pigeon
I went to Czechoslovakia for one month as an IAESTE exchange student. At that time I was studying mechanical engineering at the University of Iceland and I spent a part of that summer working in a lorry factory Prague named Avia. It was a great time and I took a lot of photos on my old Olympus OM-1. Those days were no digital!
This photo here below are originally colour slides but I made it monotonic as it is in Photo Shop.
...............
phone calls
Strange people. I think it was someone not calling from Iceland. At least my phone didn't show the phone number but just showed a "phone call".
I just hope it wasn't the Santa Claus or even worse, someone I know in deep trouble.

It is so strange
I don't know if I took this one and I don't remember the girl very much but I do remember that photo when I see it now. I think she has been very interseting person and I'm wondering what she is doing now. I don’t think she ever knew about me as anything but perhaps as a shy photography boy [or perhaps not so shy] and one of those nerds most reading calculus and physics all the time or one of those guys in the speakers group where I was partitioning those years. Perhaps she new about me and perhaps she can remember me. Who knows but I don't think she will read this.
Most of those people I have not met since I graduated but some of them I meet frequently. I moreover work with two of them and at least also a husband of one of the girls.
It was in spring 1987.
I'm sometimes wondering how my life would have been if I had a girl like her as a girlfriend on those days. Things might be very different.
To be or never have been that is perhaps the question... but where on Earth can I find the answer?

I went hiking yesterday
We had to start early and I woke up 5 am and was out of town at 6 am. Began walking around 8 am and that is before dawn here in Iceland in December. The weather was really beautiful. The sky was close to clear and almost no wind. I'm not sure about the temperature but it was some degrees below zero.
So we began the walk under a clear star sky but with no moonlight since the moon is its 4 weeks periodically holyday those days. It became colder in higher altitudes and soon it felt really cold. The landscape was incredibly beautiful in the beginning of dawn. First it was blue and changed into yellow and later real daylight. But there was a real daylight just for an hour or so since the days don't last for a long time this part of year.
We had hard time walking through deep snow but it was worth it. Down in Basar in Thorsmor one of our friends from work were waiting for us and drove us back to civilization when we finally came there around 6 o'clock in the afternoon. It was total darkness then again and the stars were shining but we were to tired to notice.
I only had a film camera with me so I don't have any photos yet. But I think I will have some of them scanned.
The hiking rout is the dashed line from "Skogar" to "Basar" on the map and it is located in the south part of Iceland.
I hope this guy are not upset since I used his map.
Photos from the tour are here

a little joke or perhaps not just a joke
The lawyer says, "Yes, that's true."
The man says, "Well, I'm interested in suing too."
The lawyer says, "Okay, McDonald's or a tobacco company?"
The man says, "Neither. I'm suing Budweiser for all the ugly people I've slept with."
The road to nowhere
I had to go to a meeting outside of Reykjavik today in a place called Heidmork. Well not entirely outside the city rather on the edge of it.
After the meeting I drove around the area and took a walk for some time. The lightning was really wonderful and I took several pictures and this one was among them. I hope someone is enjoying it.
And yes, this photo is supposed to be the photo of the week although there is a couple of weeks since the last one photo of week was posted here.

This is great!
I have no idea what to write about that I don’t want anyone to read about. I could write about the weather that is really bad at the moment but I don’t think that can be interesting at all.
Perhaps I have to tell someone about this English blog of mine but if I do that I will have to write something not to stupid.
And yes by the way. Since I did mention my trip to Africa some days ago. It looks like I am going after all. I have to make my decision next Thursday and start to pay for it.
And some more news I can tell. I think I will have another cat at the house tomorrow. My brother is going out of town as usual and I will take the cat he is babysitting. Our mom, the owner of all the cats is on sea and will come home in end of the week.

I have been thinking
I'm thinking if I should change my page. People might get some ideas or I don't know what when reading my stuff on the internet. This blog is still rather anonimous and I plan to have it like that, at least for a while.
I began that thinking when I saw some one found my icelandic blogpage on google searching for my name. And there is no one who have excacly the same name as I have. It is most likely that person was trying to find some work related information about me and it is sometimes a little bit disturbing that my person on the internet is not excactly the same as the person at work.
So. At the momen I'm changing some information about myself on the internet. But I will still be here for a long time.
Next Friday
In the lunch break next Friday I will meet the group that is planning the trip to Africa next year. We expect to go in middle of March and come back in beginning of April. I think there will be arund 10 in the group. We will soon have to decide what we will do and if we are going after all. It will be expencive about 3000 USD I think and we will be there for two and a half week. And yes, the main purpose is to climb Mt Kilimanjaro.
More about that later.
I did try but I did not manage to...
Henrik Larsen from Sweden. One of the enemies
My stealing neighbours
Not always but sometimes I become very dissapointed when I come home in the evening and realise someone has stolen my newspaper!
Yes someone living in the house is nothing but a lousy theaf, stealing my newspaper.
And the cat.
I saw the cat was in the citchen behaving strangely just right now. I was first afraid something was wrong with her but not at all. She was just playing on the floor with that delicious silverfish yes that tini insect.
No wonder I'm planning to move to another place.
Thank god...
What is disturbing me at the moment are two tings.
First:
I can't open the friz where I know he put the chicken from yesterday
Second:
I heard him talking to that phone thing to somene and he is planning to have another cat visiting. Then I will not have the apartment for myself as it is supposed to.

Me nude?
;)
Ok bastard
Ohh you stupid cat
But I'm going to sleep now. You can do what ever you like to but not tell everybody I'm boring becuase that might become true if you tell to many people.
Meow
Photo of the week
The challenge this time was to photograph part of something. And this is both a part of a house and also parts of the door and the window. I'm not totaly satisfied with the picture but I think it should have got more than just 5.3 something as it seems to be.
I kind of hate this
PS
I'm listening to a CD with Beck. I love it but I hate my CD player which is messing it all. Playing strange sounds archhs and krassch and something strange. Can please someone help me or my stupid CD player???
PSS
I just saved it myself. I'm now playing a totally different CD. Some great piano play sonatas or something.
My blog moved again
It is now as you are perhaps reading one: eirasi.blogspot.com
In shape
I was there for almost one hour including undressing, dressing, working out, undressing, taking a shower and finally dressing again since it was too cold to be outside in the nude. And perhaps not appropriate. But it would be convenient if doing the work out was in the nude.
That gym station has been called the biggest social club in Iceland. And as usual I met some people there. One guy I work with and his girlfriend and also a couple was studying engineering in the University of Iceland same time as I was there, clever couple since they are both Phd now.
I really have to go there frequently since I have to be in a good shape (or what iyou call it) when I'll go to africa next year.
And yes, btw. I am 93.9 kg do day. The plan is to trim this down to at leeast 90kg. And yes. Since 193 cm approximately, those 90 something kg isn't a total disaster.

Strange neighbours
It was a crazy old woman living in same street as I do and she was complaining over some water streaming from the house I live in. I vent out to see what was happening and saw the water came from a pavement in the garden that is common for the hous I'm living in and the another house also. Just some minutes later that same woman called again and was now really crazy since she informed me she would just call the police since the water was still leaking.
I was so surprised I just said "yes" and nothing more.
One hour later I had met the old lady and she told us (me and another woman living in the house next to me with that common garden) that we were in trouble since the pilice was on the way. I had to go somewhere and didn'd have time to wait for the police to arrive. I have no idea what happened after that but I have not heard from that poor old angru lady again.
Me myself the photographer
One is on dpchallenge and other is in fotolog.
Some days ago I did some self portrates. Here is one of them:

Running
That 10km race
It was great fun. I was 55:27 minutes I think. Not so bad at all but perhaps not the best either.
The culture night following was also great. See My Fotolog.

Still not much going on here
I'm kind of decorating my apartment or at least some furnitures. So my flat is now a total mess I must say.
Today in Reykjavik is a Gay Pride and it has become a costum that Gay Pride is for Gay people having fun of their life and strait people to join them in the fun. I can hear songs from their preparation since I'm living close to where the ceremony starts.
I think I'll go there and at least take some photos. I could use my new lens for it. I think it will be fun.

Not much going on at this blog
But I have another blog in my own language that almost no one understands.
This blog is about Eirasi's life and his life is the photographer's life of mine. Some ten or twenty years ago I expected to become a photographer but I just went the easy way and became an engineer. But still making some photos.
Today I asked one of my coworket to buy me a new camera since he is going to the state. More of that later perhaps.
And finally, it is raining heavily in Reykjavik today.

Cold and snow
I'm a bit dissapionted. I was sexpecting so much snow after the snowstorm last night. Well there are plenty of snow as you can see on my fotolog but nut enough to go downtown on skis as I was hopping to.
I must go skiing somewhere else!

Yes I know I'm a lasy blogger
But I sometimes have some other things to do and I also have my icelandic blog where I'm well writing a little bit more. But Now it is time to blog in the foreign language. I just hope someone read this one day and will like it. But anyway...
It is a real wintertime now in Iceland. On that friday night I'm not going anywhere since it it is snowing and there is some wind blowing and it is also cold. Tomorow will be snowing to the afternoon I think but the weather will get more nice after that. I'll perhaps use the oportunity and take some pictuers outside and put on my fotolog.
We in Reykjavik don't have so much snow but in the northern part of the country the snow in some towns are many meters.
The kids love it but the people have to help each other to get out of their houses.

Went to an artshow last saturday
When I was on my way home frome the local shop last saturday, I saw an opening at hlemmur.is There was a friend of mine opening a little show. Was there or a while and went out dining with the artist and her husband afterwards.
I planned some skying trips with them that we are going to next month and in march also. More about that later. But so I will be in a godd shape in time, I have began jogging on the ice in Reykjavik almost every day. At least three times a week. (we have rather short weeks here in Iceland). I'm moreover running on a small crampoons I bought last friday at a schoemacer shop!
